Just sitting in reverence of all these active sisters, and now active alumnae, all in their teal we are changing a generation, I just know it. Throughout the year seeing all the OCA events and speakers at chapters and convention, it blows my mind and warms my heart. Alumnae chapters regularly do so through fundraisers of their choosing throughout the year and submit their donations as part of the alumnae chapter awards and reports. Truly, back then we were so young, I think we had only hoped that we were doing the right thing, hoped that we were listening to the Lord and following the path that we needed to be on. Collegiate and alumnae chapters are highly encouraged to support the Alpha Sigma Alpha Foundation as one of the Sorority’s national philanthropic partners. Please do not hesitate to reach out.On June 2, 2007, the sisters of Sigma Alpha Omega® voted to adopt Ovarian Cancer Awareness as our national philanthropy after the initiative was researched by then Vice President of the National Board of Trustees, Erin Watts Evans. Brotherhood is an emphasis of our membership experience, and I can confidently say the bonds created here can survive time, distance, or turmoil. Our alumni network is extensive and reaches across the country, allowing for a smooth and supported transition from undergraduate studies to a professional career.įriendship is the most important part of our fraternity! The bonds that I have made in my two and a half years will last a lifetime. In SAE, we have many leadership positions both at a chapter and national level, which will develop the skill sets to become an effective leader later in life. Leadership is cultivated throughout the entirety of our membership experience. This fall, we held our annual Haunted House where we raised over $1200 in a single night, with other philanthropic events happening throughout the school year. Our national philanthropy is Children’s Miracle Network, which allows us to fundraise Seattle Children’s Hospital year-round. Service and philanthropy are an extremely important aspect of being in SAE. Our commitment remains to be the best students and young professionals we can possibly be. Last Spring, we nearly obtained an average chapter GPA of 3.5. Scholarship is an integral part of being a member at SAE, and we have an incredible network of undergraduates and Alumni supporting our success in our college years and beyond. What I saw was a welcoming group of friends who are motivated to excel both inside and outside of the classroom.Īt SAE we have four core values: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Friendship. I joined the chapter a little over two years ago during the 2020- 2021 school year. I’m from Tacoma, WA, and majoring in Chemistry and Applied Mathematics.
